`Spirit of Ecstasy` sculptural brass lamp, 1970`s ca, French.

Thoroughly cleaned respecting the antique patina. Newly rewired & earthed with silk cable, new brass lamp holder, new plug and new switch on the cable. Light bulb included. This lamp is ready to use.

This sculptural vintage table lamp has a brass woman`s head similar to the famous Rolls-Royce `Spirit of Ecstasy` ornament. This Modernist reinterpretation has all the movement & grace as the original.

This iconic image executed in polished brass & black lacquer, makes this lamp a smart complement for a desk or sideboard. It would suit a range of interiors such as Minimal, Antique, Art Deco or Hollywood Regency.

Looking beyond the brass sculpture there is a central column of solid brass arching forward and up to the brass lamp holder. At the bottom, the composition sits on a black lacquered square plinth.

At the top there is the original pagoda lamp shade which has a black patent leather effect. The shade is trimmed at the top with black & gold ribbon while the bottom has black trim. Inside, the shade is lined in gold which casts a warm tone and brings together the brass features. The shade screws to the brass lamp holder by 2 brass rings.

This lamp takes one standard large screw light bulb (E27) up to 60 Watts.

The brass head sculpture and brass column attachment for the light are in very good condition with the original antique patina. The lacquer on the plinth base is in very good condition with only a couple of tiny marks in line with age. The lamp shade is the original and in good condition for its age; there are a few rubbing marks on the gold lining, outside surface & trim but no rips or cuts. There is some rubbing to the metal lamp shade frame inside.

Additional dimensions:

The base has: Height 42 cm, Width 17 cm, Depth 17 cm.

The lamp shade has: Height 25 cm, Width 40 cm, Depth 25.5 cm.

Packing is offered free of charge. The lamp shade would be removed. The shade and base would be bubble wrapped separately and boxed together safely for transport.

`Spirit of Ecstasy` - Rolls-Royce Ornament History

The Spirit of Ecstasy on the Rolls-Royce is also referred to as Emily, Silver Lady or the Flying Lady. Initially it was a personal radiator mascot for Lord of Beaulieu, pioneer of the automobile movement. It was a depiction of his secret love Eleanor Velasco Thornton who tragically died at sea a decade later. Inspired by this sculpture Rolls-Royce made this mascot standard on all its automobiles years later.
