1970`s floor lamp with illuminated base by Richard Essig Besigheim, Germany. Quality chrome column with three removable textured clear glass cylinder shades, each one with a light inside. This vintage floor lamp has the original vintage cream colour silk fabric drum shade with metalic trim and a cream fabric light diffuser at the top. The circular chrome base is weighted for stability. A string switch at the lamp holder allows separate control of the top light from the lights inside the column base, providing task lighting, ambiance lighting or a combination. The top carries two standard big screw light bulbs up to 100 Watts each. In the column, three standard small screw light bulbs up to 40 watts each, inside the glass shades. On top of each glass shade there is a chrome cover which lifts together with the shade allowing easy access to change the bulb. Very good condition with some patina on the shade consistent with age. Each glass shade is in good condition with only some wear ( a minor chip) on only one side, which can not been seen when the pieces are mounted together and covered by the chrome cover segments. Newly rewired and in full working order.
The dimensions of the base alone are: Height: 160 cm, Width: 25 cm & Depth: 25 cm
The dimensions of the lampshade are: Height: 45.5 cm, Width: 55.5 cm, Depth: 55.5 cm
