Aldo Londi pesce vase,  Rimini Blu series   fish ceramic vase for Bitossi , 1950`s ca, Italy. This Aldo Londi fish vase is part of the Rimini Blu series which is Londi`s signature line and a Mid-century pottery classic. This is an early piece and signed on the bottom. On this large vase, what is very attractive is the Brutalist form & texture combined with hand painted fish decoration on striking blue & turquoise glaze. On the bottom `signed 5387/AL Italy`.  In very good condition.  At Roomscape we have a range of Mid-century pottery in our Decorative Objects category.

Aldo Londi ceramics - Aldo Londi (1911 - 2003) was born & raised in Florence. At the age of 11 he took his first job with a local ceramics manufacturer. Following World War II, Londi`s experience earned him the job of Art Director at the famous Bitossi studio in Florence. At Bitossi, Londi created thousands of designs and sculptural forms including Rimini Blu, his signature pattern. Rimini Blu, was named after the major road junction that connects central & northern Italy, as well as the striking glaze combination.

Bitossi Aldo Londi Italy - Bitossi Ceramics started in 1921 in Florence and continues today in the hands of the same family. Building on the tradition of local ceramics, the company has archived the tradition with more than 7000 original pieces; many of which are included in their own museum MAIB - Artistic Industrial Bitossi Museum. In addition to working with Aldo Londi, the company worked with other great designers such as Ettore Sottsass and Piero Fornasetti.
