Brass floor lamp with black lacquer detail, 1970`s ca, Italian.
This floor lamp has been thoroughly cleaned respecting the vintage patina. Newly rewired, earthed & ready to use. Light bulb included.
This elegant vintage uplighter is executed in smart solid brass with black lacquer. This `Postmodern` lamp has a minimal Neoclassical form; the simplicity emphasizes the different shapes. The form is enhanced with the combination of luxury materials; bold brass & black lacquer. Standing like a skyscraper this lamp is well suited for a range of decors such as Art Deco, 1970`s Glamour, Minimalist, Industrial or Contemporary.
The solid brass frame has three main components: the base, column & shade.
The rectangular plinth base is lacquered black. The edges & angles are highlighted by the exposed underlying brass. At the centre of the base there is a rectangular brass plate on which rises a slender column.
The column is of a rectangular section following the materials on the base: the edges in solid brass & inside portion in black lacquer. Inside the column runs the wiring.
The shade at the top follows the same design as the plinth base, however the angles are exaggerated with great dramatic effect. This shade tilts 180 degrees forwards & backwards. The mechanism for tilting is of solid brass and functions smoothly. On either side of the shade, there are 3 slits for vents modeled in the typical Postmodern Design. On the upper side the shade is lined with reflective metal and there is a mesh cover protecting the light bulb.
This lamp takes a standard tubular Halogen light bulb up to 500 Watts. At present fitted & photographed with a new Linear Energy Saving Halogen tubular clear R75 of 400 Watts by Crompton Lamps. This type of bulb is easily available in most electrical shops & over the internet.
There is a working dimmer switch on the cord.
This floor lamp is sound and in very good condition. The surfaces have some minor wear & patina in line with age, such as some tiny scratches to the black lacquer exposing the brass beneath, mostly on the base as would be expected.
