on thick pure rag paper and with full margins as published in an edition of fifty impressions around 1980. This Glen River scene in the Mourne Mountains is a fine, original example of the contemporary landscape art created by the British artist, Donald Wilkinson. Very good condition.
Donald Wilkinson, born in 1937, is a contemporary British painter and print-maker. Wilkinson studied art techniques at the Carlisle College of Art and Design, Cumbria (1953 - 1957), and at the Royal College of Art, London (1959 - 1962). In 1962 he was awarded the Andrew Lloyd Scholarship for Landscape and during the following years he received such awards as The Giles Bequest, British International Print Biennale (1974), The Pallas Prize, British International Print Biennale (1976), National Museum Prize, Cracow International Print Biennale, Poland (1980), the Northern Arts Award (1994) and Visual Arts UK (1995). Today a number of Donald Wilkinson`s works are included in the collection of the British Council. Donald Wilkinson`s work focuses mainly on landscape of the Lake District. He is particularly noted for the light effects achieved in his atmospheric landscapes. Glen River - Mourne Mountains/ November is a large and important example of his very personal and striking work. The Glen River is situated in the South East coast of Down, Northern Ireland.
