Vintage square coffee table by Francois Monnet for Kappa, 1970`s ca, France. The base and frame beautifully reflect the light creating a `floating` effect, typical for the late 70`s. The clever and fluid design creates a smart contrast between the flat surfaces of brushed steel and the curves in polished chrome finish. Original clear glass top. Very good condition with some age patina that gives lots of character.
Monnet collaborated in the 70`s with Joelle Ferlande, most famously in the brushed steel mounted shelving units designed for Kappa. This table and other Monnet pieces are documented in various publications including: Maison et Jardins, June 1971, n. 174, page 130; La Maison Francaise, November 1970, n. 242, page 117.
