Gold coffee table, gold plated gilt frame with glass top by Pierre Vandel, 1970`s ca, France.

This coffee table has been gently cleaned respecting the vintage patina; it is ready to use.

Minimal & geometric make this table interesting and handsome. The angular themes, repeated hexagonal details and golden tone keep this Modernist design elegant & chic. This table would suit a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, 70`s Glamour, Industrial or Contemporary,

The quality geometric gold plated gilt frame is divided into its core parts in the Constructivist manner. The legs are two flat planes of half hexagonal shapes positioned at right angles. The edges of these flat planes are finished on an angle repeating the geometric theme.

At the top, the legs are held together by a rectangular frame of gold plated tubing which has a rectangular profile. There is a hexagonal portion at each corner of the frame where the glass top sits. This is a subtle details which uniforms the design.

The glass is securely held in place as the planes of the legs rise above the top frame. The quality clear glass has a thickness of 8 mm with slight beveled edges of 2 mm adding depth to the design. At the corners the glass top is cut at a diagonal; this contributes to the secure structure as well as repeating the angular shapes. The glass top is removable for cleaning & transport.

Lower down the legs are held together by a stretcher. With the same tubular construction as the top, the stretcher consists of a central tube which divides to 2 tubes diagonally attaching to the legs at the other end. There is a decorative hexagonal form at the junction of the stretcher to the legs. This detail appears twice again in the centre part of the stretcher.

This vintage coffee table is in very good condition. The frame is sound & strong. The gold plated gilt is in good condition with minor rubbing in places in line with age. The original vintage clear glass top is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. The glass top would be removed and wrapped separately in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. The frame would have bubble wrap and an outer layer of card if necessary. This table could fit easily in a box for safe shipping.
