Gold leaf advertising vintage sign `Medico` (Doctor), 1920`s ca, Argentinian.
Thoroughly cleaned respecting the antique patina.
This attractive original vintage sign was purchased in Buenos Aires.
It was originally hanged & displayed outside a historic building in the downtown area of San Telmo in Buenos Aires. The
gold letters `Medico` translate as `Doctor` in Spanish.
This very decorative vintage sign can be hung or arranged to stand on a table top; perfect for a range of Interior Design schemes.
The letters are reverse-painted gold leaf embossed on glass in a typeface characteristic of the period 1920`s to 1940`s.
The letters are stylised & composed by hand in gold leaf with two different types of surface for each letter to create depth; the main frontal area on each symbol is mirrored while the deeper portion is in a satin gold finish. The `Medico` word is surrounded with black painted glass.
This sign is surrounded by the original antique frame, in black lacquered steel with a back made from wood.
New removable brass small picture frame hooks have been fitted to this back surface to hang to the wall if required.
The gold letters & black glass surface are in very good condition, with no cracks or chips to the glass. The metal frame has the original antique patina adding character with some wear on the paint in line with age which also confirms authenticity.
