HAR vintage gilded seated Chinaman pin & earrings, 1960, New York. Known as the “Chinaman” or “Happy Buddha” he has a gold gilt body decorated with faux jade stones and aurora borealis rhinestones. The Happy Buddha is revered as a symbol of luck, happiness, contentment and prosperity, and his image is found everywhere. The earrings are clip on and can be converted for pierced ears. The back is stamped "©HAR" on the back of one earring. This mark was granted on 1 May 1960. Very good condition and all rhinestones intact.
