Iron chandelier hand forged with copper & patinated effect with original glass shades,1930`s ca, Italy.
Exceptional quality iron work of the Arts & Craft period has gone into this large antique chandelier with its scrolled band frame and outwardly turned detail in each corner. Richly engraved along the frame, there is even a coat of arms at the centre of the frame on each side, containing a Lion and the Latin phrase `Validus Leo Vincit ` which means `Strong Victorious Lion`. Artistically finished with a faux copper patination on an attractive gilded finish that complements the strong iron frame and adds character & texture. Protruding from the frame there are six scrolls featuring twisted iron work. Each is finished with a mounted torch-style light. It can be used with the original antique candle stick covers for a classic Medieval/Gothic look. Alternatively it can be used with the original antique glass shades in a shade of caramel/orange colour for a strong Arts & Crafts look. Both the candle covers & shades are included in the price. The chandelier is suspended by four quality patinated iron chains originating from the original decorative ceiling cup. Carries the original 6
lamp holders and takes 6
