Some history about the design process of the sofa:
Designed for the era of lounge living, this piece is inviting with its relaxing curves & lush fabric. The elegant style, size, shape & quality detail make this piece well suited for a grand sitting room. The style fits within a range of Interiors such as Traditional, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Minimalist or Contemporary.
In the past we have stocked at
Roomscape original vintage Ico Parisi sofas. As originals are difficult to come by and often there are issues with condition, we arranged to have this model newly made.
Working with local craftsman in Italy using traditional methods to exact specifications and quality materials, each sofa is individually made and has a quality handmade solid wooden frame.
The seat is composed by an horizontal solid wooden plate with an all foam cushion. Different layers of diverse density foam, from a high density foam core at the bottom to a softer layer of foam at the top. A Polyester fiber wrap is bonded to the foam to give a soft sculptured look and maximum comfort while keeping the shape. This choice of cushion allows to have a firm seat which is also soft to the touch, with the fewest possible wrinkles in the fabric. This compositions repeats along the back & sides of the sofa.
The kidney shape seat portion of the sofa has two areas; to the right it is narrow with a lower back which rises to the left with a circular end. The curved back follows an organic movement with the maximum height near the centre of the sofa. The back lowers at both ends to embrace the seat. This detail creates movement & continuity.
This piece is fully trimmed around the frame & seat cushion which emphasises the shape and flow of design.
The frame sits on 6 removable handmade polished brass legs that screw to the frame. Each leg is individually made in solid brass and has the top portion made as a plate, with four holes to screw to the sofa giving great stability.
Packing is offered free of charge. We have shipped this sofa safely worldwide and give great attention to the package. The frame will be wrapped in several layers of foam & bubblewrapp and a final layer of either cardboard or cellophane for safe transport. If necessary the legs can be easily unscrewed from the frame and packed separately in a box. For international shipping, the chosen courier will add extra packaging & crate it for safe travel.
