Maison Jansen brass two tier sliding top display coffee table, with mirrored enclosed shelf, 1970`s ca, French.

This coffee table has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina and is ready to use.

The Neoclassical & Modernist features executed in solid polished brass suggest this table could be from Maison Jansen.

The proportions, elegant lines, and repeated geometric forms are Neoclassical references.

Elegant in design, materials & detail, this table is also very practical, with its generous size and shelf, which is an enclosed display area, ideal for presenting books or decorative items. It would suit a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Glamour, Industrial, Traditional or Contemporary.

The Neoclassical solid polished brass frame has ‘rational’ proportions and square section plinth legs.

The clear glass top and silver mirrored shelf are the originals to the table, and both removable. The four sides of the compartment are in clear glass.

Many quality details are present. Each glass surface sits on a solid brass flat trim that runs along the frames underneath the glass. The vertical side glass panels are secured in place, both at the top and bottom ends, by solid brass horizontal flat trims. On top of both the shorter portions of this trim (the 2 shorter sides of the rectangular frame) there is a solid brass stick where the top cover portion of the table slides.

The top portion of the frame with the clear glass is in solid polished brass and of square section, repeating the design of the legs. It has below and all around, a decorative brass trim that becomes the guides to slide it along the 2 short sides. In the middle portion of both sides, hidden, there is a safety stopper to prevent the top surface from sliding all the way.

The top portion of the frame (frame with clear glass) is removable and sits on the bottom portion of the frame.

The shelf is in quality silver mirrored glass.

The four legs have all underneath the original black stoppers to protect the floor.

This vintage coffee table is in very good condition. All the glass surfaces are in very good condition with no chips or damages and only tiny superficial marks in line with age & wear. The solid brass frame is sound and has a great warm antique gold tone, with the original lacquer present. It is in very good condition with minor patina and wear on small areas in line with age. All the original rubber stoppers are present on the legs.

Packing is offered free of charge. For safe transport the 2 main glass surfaces would be removed and wrapped in bubble wrap with an outer layer of card. The brass frame with the 4 remaining glass sides would be wrapped in bubble wrap & an outer layer of card. Together these parts would fit in a box for safe transport.

Additional dimensions:

The internal display area has the following dimensions: Height: 17 cm; Width: 124 cm; Depth: 64 cm
