Maison Jansen large sliding top display coffee table, brass, stainless steel, Lucite & glass, 1970`s ca, French.
This generous sized vintage Neoclassical coffee table, attributed to Maison Jansen, has a sliding top to a display area below. The quality square frame consists of a brushed steel frame with solid polished brass details. The two main square portions of the frame are surrounded by a decorative polished brass trim that is shaped with a recess to hold the two removable clear glass surfaces. This `double trim` at different levels adds depth to the composition. There is also a solid polished brass square detail at the bottom of each of the four plinth legs. There are subtle additional details of angled polished chrome at each corner of the frame which adds texture & reflection. The removable sliding top smoothly moves to one direction and is secured in place by two hidden guides placed on two sides of the frame. The four vertical panels of the display area are in clear Lucite. These panels are framed at the top & corners by a stainless steel frame adding strength to the design and a sign of quality rarely seen in this type of table. The metal frame, glass surfaces and Lucite are in excellent condition. This table can be dismantled if needed for transport.
The height inside the display area is 17 cm.
