Maison Jansen sliding coffee table, large size in brass, stainless steel, Lucite & glass, 1970`s ca, French.

This vintage table has been thoroughly cleaned respecting the original aged patina and is ready to use.

This vintage coffee table, attributed to Maison Jansen, has a sliding top to a display area below. It has Neoclassical proportions & details such the plinth legs & brass trim.

The quality rectangular frame consists of a brushed steel frame with solid polished brass details. The rectangular central compartment consists of an upper & lower glass sheet surrounded by a decorative polished solid brass trim. This trim has two levels; the upper is decorative and the lower level suspends the glass adding a sense of depth to the design. Both glass tops are 8 mm thick and original to the table. The top glass is detailed with a bevelled edge which adds further depth to the design.

There is also a solid polished brass square detail at the bottom of each of the four plinth legs. In each corner of the frame there is angled polished chrome detailing adding texture & reflection.

The sliding top smoothly moves to one direction and is secured in place by two hidden guides.

The four vertical panels of the display area are in clear Lucite. These panels are framed at the top & corners by a stainless steel frame adding a sense of `strength` to the design.

The metal frame, glass surfaces and Lucite are in very good condition with only some minor age related marks to the metal & brass in line with age. Each sheet of glass has some marks in line with age and each has one corner with a minute chip, hardly visible when the glass sits within the frame.

For safe transport this table would be packed free of charge. The two glass portions can be removed and placed in bubble wrap surrounded by card. The frame would be wrapped in bubble wrap & a layer of stretch wrap.

The height inside the display area is 17 cm.
