Marvella fish brooch with Pixie, faux coral & rhinestones, 1960’s ca, USA.

Pale coral colour with white marbling Lucite on gold plated cast frame. Aurora borealis rhinestones adorn the Pixie`s dress collar & hem as well as highlighting the fish`s mouth, eyes, tail and fins. The frame has exceptional detail including the backside of Pixie’s head and body. Stamped on the back Marvella with the copyright symbol. This piece is characteristic of Marvella which has a long history with the sea theme including the famous "Neptune" line in the 1940’s. Good condition including the pin. Gift box included.

This brooch is also attributed to Hattie Carnegie as featured in "Classic American Costume Jewelry, Volume 2" by Jacqueline Rehmann (page 119) however this particular piece is stamped Marvella. Experience has shown other examples of Hattie Carnegie pieces for Marvella. It is understood that the same factory produced for both companies.

Marvella Jewelry History
