Marvella originated as a line of jewellery manufactured by the Weinrich Bros. located in Philadelphia where the company was founded in 1911.
At some point the brothers moved their business to New York City, as referenced in 1950`s on the jewellery patents.
Marvella has had a long history with the sea themed pieces including the famous "Neptune" line in the 1940’s. Another example is this coral brooch featured in the photographed advertisement for "Coral Fantasie by Marvella" which appeared in Harper`s Bazaar, March, 1951.
The company changed its name to Marvella, Inc. around 1965.
Marvella was purchased by Trifari in the early 1980`s and eventually became part of the Liz Claiborne Group. Today Marvella jewellery is distributed in department stores on cards bearing the Marvella name.
