Murano glass fish lamp attributed to Barovier & Toso, 1950`s ca, Italian.

This table lamp has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. It is newly rewired & earthed, fully working and PAT tested by an electrician. It has a new brass lamp holder, black switch, golden silk cable & new black plug. Light bulb included. It is possible to use this lamp in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase a different bulb suitable to local electricity.

In this lamp, the handcrafted red glass is highlighted by threads of gold ‘aventurine’, a process achieved by combining copper with the glass which clumps together to create a gold flecked appearance. The red glass ironically needs real gold in the mixture to achieve this deep colour. This technique, form & colour are features of Murano based Barovier & Toso, the attributed maker of this lamp.

The delightfully curved body of the leaping dolphin creates a fabulous sense of fluid movement. The form is kept slender, ideal for the bedside or corridor. It would make a playful addition to a range of Interiors including Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Mid Century, Traditional or Contemporary.

The dolphin stands upon a stable concave base of matching glass. Exquisite ribbing to the base and body accentuates the sparkle of the glass while the crimping to the applied glass radiates light through the patterned inclusions. The face & fins are applied clear glass with golden specs. The eyes are yellow & black  canutillo millefiori  .

The tail rises to the light holder. At the junction there is the original brass collar. The brass lamp holder is new and sits inside a lamp cover which has a brushed finish.

This lamp carries one small screw (E14) light bulb up to 60 Watts. Presently fitted & photographed with a 25 Watts clear Golf light bulb which is included in the price. It could take other bulb shapes.

Finished with a new black silk clip-on lampshade. This is lined with gold toned paper to compliment the aventurine glass.

The original manufacturer`s paper label "Made in Italy" is still present and attached to the bottom of the base.

This vintage lamp is in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks to the glass, only patina in line with age & wear.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport the lampshade would be removed and packed separately with bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. The base would be packed similarly.Together these would easily fit into a box with loose fill packing peanuts ideal for safe posting or shipping.

Additional dimensions:

The glass base alone without the lampshade is: Height: 34 cm, Width: 11.5 cm, Depth: 14 cm.

The shade alone is: Height: 13 cm, top Diameter: 10.5 cm, bottom diameter: 15.5 cm.
