The stylised Chinoiserie motif and delicate colour tones

Both square section pillars are made of solid wood panels coated in black lacquer.
The black lacquer has a warm satin type finish, not flat and not too glossy.
They have been hand painted and carved with a continuous decoration depicting wild flowers, leaves & birds along the four sides.
They are an original matching pair, designed together as a set, with minor variations in colour & detail in the carvings showing the hand made quality of each the pillars.
The background surfaces are coated in black lacquer, while the
large pictures are made using the
"K
uan Cai"
(literally "incised colors") technique.
Both columns are in very good condition with the original vintage patina present and only minor signs of age such as tiny superficial marks & wear on the edges.
