Paul-Édouard Delabrièrre sculpture (in the manner) bronze antique table lamp with three lions, 1900`s ca, France.

Thoroughly cleaned, newly rewired and fully working with a new antiqued bronze lamp holder, gold silk cord and a cable switch.

At the focal point of this antique table lamp three statuesque lions majestically stand encircling a central column. The lions are of quality bronze casting in the manner of Paul Delabrierre. Linked together by the original chain held in their mouths, the three lions appear symbolic. The central bronze column has a geometric form rather than curved. This is a detail reminiscent of the early Art Deco period. The column tapers to the top at which there is a lamp holder. On the bottom there is a round bronze plinth base which has padding on the underside. The vintage black Pagoda shaped fabric lampshade has black trim and gold-toned lining.

The lamp takes one standard screw (E27) light bulb up to 60 Watts. This lamp has been rewired with a new antiqued bronze lamp holder, silk cable, cord switch and plug. The shade is in good condition for its age with great patina and character. There is some fading on the outside and minor wear on the inside. The bronze sculpture base is in good condition with the original age related patina. The bronze has been left unpolished to appreciate the original character.

The total height with the lamp shade is 71 cm.

The dimensions of the lamp shade are: Height 31 cm, Width: 35 cm, Depth: 35 cm.

The diameter of the base without the lamp shade is 25 cm.

Paul-Édouard Delabrièrre Biography

Parisian artist Delabrièrre (French, 1829-1912) first studied painting under Jean-Baptiste Delestre and later he turned to sculpture. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1848 to 1898, receiving an honourable mention in 1859. Influenced by the earlier work of Antoine-Louis Barye, Delabrièrre produced almost exclusively groups or statuettes of animals with great attention to detail for which he is famous today.
