Pierre Cardin coffee table (attributed) in chrome, brass & glass 1970`s ca, French. This elegant modernist coffee table has many of the features of Pierre Cardin`s puzzle table of the same period in that it consists of chrome bands at two ends each with two additional brass bands. Cleverly the width of one brass band becomes the depth of the second brass band which adds to the intriguing design pattern. The glass top and shelf are the original in smoked brown glass characteristic of a 1970`s coffee table.  At the bottom there are four quality rubber wheels with chrome coverings. This vintage coffee table disassembles for easy transport and works also as a side or corner table. No chips or major scratches to the frame or the glass and therefore in exceptional condition as expected for a coffee table by Pierre Cardin.

The shelf is 12 cm from the floor and there is a distance of 26 cm from the shelf to the top of this table.

Pierre Cardin was born in Italy in 1922 and moved to Paris in the forties to study Architecture. In 1950 he founded his own fashion house where he also designed furniture. Cardin is known for his avant-garde style and his ‘space age’ designs. Pierre Cardin furniture designs were largely of wood with new types of lacquers. Furniture by Pierre Cardin is know for the attention to detail & precision as exemplified in Pierre Cardin`s puzzle table. Cardin`s furniture is well executed making them timeless classics and therefore suitable for a range of interiors. He once said his furniture is “the opposite of straight sober clean lines, it is furniture made up of organic cells; all I did was reveal their aesthetic quality”.
