The trademark Romeo Rega with the double `R`s was first used on New Years Eve 1969, symbolic of the turn to the 70`s. The company manufactured until 1981.
This coffee table with dry bar attributed to Romeo Rega, has many of the design features of the classic Italian pedestal "floating" table of the 1970`s, mostly designed and made popular by Willy Rizzo, and produced by companies such as Romeo Rega & Cidue. This table is signed (acid etched) "Class Mark", a division of Nazaret Italy.
Rega’s furniture is characterized by geometric shapes and reduced forms. His designs are almost always mirrored, gilded, chromed or brass-plated, which adds the allure and elegance that Rega is known for, to his clean-lined modernist pieces.
Although there is little verifiable information, some sources believe that Rega worked with designer-to-the-stars Willy Rizzo and prolific designer Gabriella Crespi, as all three designers espouse very similar aesthetics.
With many entertainment-focused pieces, such as coffee tables with display space and liquor cabinets, occasional tables, etageres, and decorative table lamps, Rega’s work is popular among lovers of Hollywood Regency and 1970s design.
