Roomscape`s collection of vintage Regalia costume jewellery

Added 05 May 2015 at 15:19

To commemorate the birth of Princess Charlotte, Roomscape presents its Regalia collection of vintage costume jewellery for sale.

American firm Trifari was one of the first to introduce items inspired by the Crown Jewels. In the 1940`s head designer Alfred Philippe designed the first Trifari Crowns which are highly collected today.

Trifari crowns became a signature piece for the company and the crown symbol was incorporated into the company`s trademark by the 1950`s. This vintage pair of Trifari earrings below, have the original maker`s tag featuring the Crown Trifari Mark.

More exact replicas of the `Coronation Crown Jewels` have also been produced. This Trifari orb brooch commemorated Queen Elizabeth II`s ascension to the throne in 1953. `The Sovereign’s Orb` represents Christ’s dominion over the world with its cross & globe.

There are two Sceptres in the `Coronation Crown Jewels`. This 1950`s Mazer brooch is a replica of the famous `Sceptre with Cross` which represents the Queen’s temporal power under God.  Trifari produced a similar Sceptre as displayed in this vintage 1953 advertisement.

Mazer also produced a sword pin replica of the `Sword of Offering`. While the actual sword was made for the Coronation of King George IV in 1820, Mazer`s wearable version commemorated the coronation of George VI in 1936.

In 1944 Alfred Philippe designed his version of a sword pin for Trifari. It is in sterling silver gilt with gold.

The `Sceptre with Dove` (representing equity & mercy), has never been replicated in Costume Jewellery. The other principal pieces from the collection are The Coronation spoon, Ampulla, Spurs (representing chivalry) and the Armills (representing sincerity & wisdom).
