Saporiti sofa in original red velvet, 1950`s ca, Italy.
Italian 1950`s vintage sofa attributed to Saporiti in the original red velvet. This comfortable Modernist Italian sofa is an elegant combination of glamour & function. It has a quality solid frame with organic sculptural curving lines which create a light & delicate "lounge" feeling typical of a vintage 1950`s sofa. With deep cushions, this piece seats three people comfortably while still maintaining the delicate proportions of the period. The deep elegant red velvet is original to the piece and fitting for the style. Each of the
three seat cushions is upholstered all around.
The four spindle black metal legs taper to a brass point and finish at a pod which adds to the effect of lightness & movement. The legs have a nice patina in line with the age and adds character. The frame is sound and the seat and removable cushions are in good condition. The
upholstery is in very good condition for it age. There are no stains or fading and only minor rubbing on the right arm which is hardly noticeable (photographed in last picture). Ready to use as it but equally good for re-upholstering in the future.
Height of the seat from the floor is 41 cm.
The height of the armrest is 60 cm.
