Sculpture horse head, probably a shop display for the leather & metal bridle, 1970`s English.
This item has been gently cleaned, and the leather oiled to preserve the vintage patina. It is ready to install.
This realistic wall hanging would be of interest to equestrian or collectors of shop displays. Large & sculptural this piece would offer a big decorative impact for either a country home, retail shop, theatre, or Industrial styled interior.
The headstall is an authentic piece made of leather with brass gilt buckles & a white metal bit insert for the mouth. The leather has white stitching worn over time giving authenticity & texture. Each side of the browband has a brass cartouche stamped `JMR` which is likely the maker of the bridle. This piece was probably made to display & promote this type of bridle.
The leather bridle is on a naturalistic horse head in real proportions & size, all cast in thick plastic.
At the back the base has a single hole shaped to easily hang the model on the wall.
The head is in very good condition and sound. In line with its age the leather has a warm patina with some wear as rubbing & peeling in the top portion (as photographed). The plastic surface has superficial marks & patina in line with age.
Additional dimensions:
The flat base which attaches to the wall is: Height: 58 cm & Width: 19 cm.
