Specimen table 1950`s marble top table by
Marindo Blad, Holland. This circular vintage Mid century Lucite/Perspex coffee table by Marindo Blad is a playful re-interpretation of the traditional 19th Century specimen tables of marble from Italy & France. Very decorative and solid piece with an Art Deco feel which would work equally well as a side or centre table. The table consists of a shaped iron circular base with removable top and shelf. Both surfaces have a gloss finish with lots of texture. Real pieces of stone & marble in different shades together with tiny pieces of mother of pearl set in clear resin.
The combination of stones covered in gloss adds depth and a surreal quality.
In the base, a hand worked shaped iron frame complements the design.
The shaped iron frame is unique to this design and a popular material from the 1950`s.
Both circular top surfaces are in very good vintage condition with no cracks or chips to the Lucite. The iron frame is in very good condition with the original patina.
The circular shelf is at height: 24.5 cm from the floor, and has a diameter of 44.5 cm.
