Trifari crown pin and earrings, sterling, by Alfred Philippe, 1946 USA.
This set of matching earrings and pin is composed entirely of clear crystal rhinestones in marquis, baguette and round shapes set in sterling silver for a monochromatic effect. The pin is marked `TRIFARI` with the crown, `STERLING` and `DES PAT NO. 147147`. The earrings are marked `TRIFARI` with the crown and `PAT PEND` and therefore produced sometime between the time the design was submitted in June 1946 to when the patent was granted in July 1947. Included is a photograph of the patent submitted by Alfred Philippe. The set was pictured in the `Jewels by Trifari` `Day Evening` advertisement in the American magazine Harpers Bazaar (photographed). Very good vintage condition. Gift box included.
