Trifari Lucite Jelly Belly vintage poodle brooch vermeil gold gilt sterling silver by Alfred Philippe, 1945 ca, USA.  Stamped Trifari with the crown over the `T`, Sterling and pat pend. This brooch is on page 82 `Fun Jewellry`,  Page 148 in Brunialti`s `American Costume Jewelry` and page 127 `Judith Miller` (2003). Gift box included.

Vermeil is sterling silver coated with gold. To be considered vermeil, the gold must be at least 10 carat (42%) and be at least 2.5 micrometres thick. Vermeil was used in the 1940`s when resources were limited and this is part of it`s appeal to collectors.

This pin is attributed to Alfred Philippe who was initially a designer for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. He designed jewelry for Trifari from 1930 to 1968.
