At the focal point of each lamp is a glazed ceramic base depicting a sitting Labrador. The dog sculptures are fitted on wooden bases.
Each figure is unique and individually handmade with great attention to detail, with minor differences in design & expression between them. Superbly hand painted, these lamps have a lot of personality. The two tone bodies are in shades of white, grey & camel. Black accents can be found on the eyes, face & feet.
Each ceramic sculpture is very stable with a good heavy weight. The surfaces have a smooth finish and great texture, with a subtle crackled effect underneath the glaze.
From the back the figurines are as well detailed as the front. The silk cable comes out from a discrete hole in the wooden bases.
The bases have an undulated irregular shape with stepped profile and are in black gloss enamel. They are of complementary different shape.
Underneath the lamp bases are padded with new black felt to protect the furniture below.
Rising from the back of each figure there is a polished brass column leading to the new brass lamp holder. This is inside a polished brass cover. The lamp holder has 2 brass screw rings to hold the lampshade in place. Halfway upwards the column curves, this portion of the arm can rotate sideways but not extend, there is a brass decorative coupler with a screw to fix the arm in different positions.
These lamps are finished with contemporary screw on lampshades of black chenille, complementing the tone of the base.
These lamps carry 1 standard small screw light bulb (E14) up to 60 Watts. At present fitted & photographed with Candle Clear shaped light bulbs of 28 Watts. These are included in the price.
It is possible to use any other E14 bulbs.

ZACCAGNINI ITALIAN CERAMICS HISTORY
The ceramic factory `Ugo Zaccagnini & Figli` was founded by Ugo Zaccagnini (1868-1937), a former employee of Richard-Ginori, in Sesto Fiorentino in 1905. The first production focused on the production of majolica and earthenware types, often
Renaissance inspired ceramics.
The company moved to Florence in 1912.
After Ugo’s death in 1937, his son Urbano became company director, the second-generation period becoming identified with rustic terracotta pieces with tridimensional winding cord designs. Ceramiche Zaccagnini S.p.A. collaborated with many great artists of the era, such as Mario Bandini, Gino Pozzi, Leopold Anzengruber, painter U. Ciardella, sculptor L. Contini, and Fosco Martini.
In 1938 Walt Disney consigned the production of its ceramic cartoon characters to Zaccagnini S.p.A.
In the 1950`s an artistic line called `Swedish` was inspired by abstractionism, and
exhibited at the Italian Crafts Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
In 1958, Urbano Zaccagnini left the family factory founding the “Urbano Zaccagnini Ceramiche Artistiche” which remained active until the mid-1960s. Animal sculptures & lamps were produced in this period.
Zaccagnini Ceramics was active until the year 2000.
