WEST VIRGINIA GLASS SPECIALTY HISTORY

West Virginia in America has a rich tradition of glass making, with over 400 factories and manufacturers creating glass products since the late 1800`s. Even though the industry has mostly now come and gone, there are many places where handmade glass is still made in the state.

The first glass factory in the county opened in 1907. A lot of decorations were done by West Virginia Glass Specialty themselves, which was by mid 20th Century the largest company in the area. The colorful quality glassware made by West Virginia Glass Specialty from 1956 until 1987 is highly collected and fit rather well in today home decors.
